The historical and cultural aspects of the workshops “Eating the past” and “Trip through a Roman recipe book” were covered in a different way as initially planned. On the guided tour of Villa Adriana with the theme “At Dinner with the Emperor” students learned a great deal about Roman life in general, about the traditional diet in Roman times and about some traditional recipes. The students learnt how the Romans, in the I, II and III century A.D. used to cook, what food they ate and how they kept fit. This visit also replaced the one to the Museo Nazionale Romano as it covered the same content. The students also compared their own eating habits with Romans eating habits through some traditional recipes. The pupils completed the tour by visiting Villa D’Este.
